If you are a new patient to our clinic, please arrive at least five minutes before your consultation or fill out a new patient form here and bring the following to your consultation:

  • Photo ID
  • A valid Medicare card
  • Workcover patients will need to inform their employer and bring their employer’s contact details for verification to arrange payment.

Fees

Billing Policy

The Gap Village Doctors is a mixed billing practice. Most consultations are time-based and will incur private fees for patients who are not eligible under the bulk-billing criteria. Fees are payable at the time of consultation by cash, credit card or EFTPOS.

We are still able to bulk bill eligible patient groups for most of the consultation types:

  • Children under 17 years of age
  • Patients over 65 years old
  • Commonwealth
  • DVA Gold Card holders
  • Health Care Card holders
  • Pensioner Concession Card holders

OSHC/OVC Membership Holder

Our billings for patients holding an OSHC/OVC membership are:

Our practice is appointment based, however we always welcome and accommodate walk-in patients. Our standard consultations are up to 15 minutes.

If you need urgent medical care and The Gap Village Doctors is closed, please contact (134 100) Hello Home Doctors booking lines are open from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on weekdays, 1:00 pm on Saturdays till 8 am Monday, all day on Sundays and public holidays. Please call an ambulance on 000 if your situation is an emergency.

Results

A follow-up appointment is usually required to receive results. Telephone advice will only be given if authorised by your doctor. The Gap Village Doctors will attempt to contact you regarding any urgent results.

Correspondence

Electronic medical information is transmitted via encrypted format using secure messaging software. Printed medical information is mailed through the secure post (i.e., with a tracking number). Patient diagnostic correspondence and results, whether in electronic or hard copy format, are always forwarded to the relevant doctor. The word “Confidential” is written on the correspondence. Patient information is only sent via email if it is securely encrypted. We do not accept patient enquiries or requests via email. We also do not send patient information to personal email addresses.

Communication Assistance

If you require assistance with communication (e.g. a translator) please notify our reception team upon arrival. A phone interpreter may be available. If you require an Auslan sign language interpreter during your appointment, a booking can be made online at https://www.nabs.org.au/ or by phoning 1800 246 945.

We constantly strive to give patients the best possible care and attention, but if you are dissatisfied with any element of our service, please bring this to our attention, so we can do better next time.
If this does not resolve your problem, we welcome receiving your complaint in writing. We will acknowledge your complaint in writing or contact you to discuss the way forward. Your complaint will be investigated, and you will be advised of the outcome.

Travel Medicine Risk Assessment We are happy to give travel health services to our registered patients. Our nurse utilizes up-to-date data to inform you about your health requirements around the globe. They can take most of the vaccinations and provide treatment prescriptions where necessary. Many individuals take long-haul vacations that require complex vaccine classes. Vaccinations Recommended vaccines for all athletes. Inactivated tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, influenza, hepatitis A, hepatitis B vaccines and live measles, mumps, and varicella vaccines (if immunity is not proven by a natural infection) are suggested consistently for adult elite athletes.

Chiropractor

Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative therapies, with the hypothesis that adequate alignment of the musculoskeletal structure of the body, especially the spine, will allow the body to cure itself without surgery or medication. Manipulation is used to restore mobility to tissue-restricted joints induced by traumatic events such as falling or repetitive stress.

Physiotherapy

Through motion and practice, manual therapy, education and counseling, physiotherapists assist individuals impacted by injury, disease or disability.

The profession helps to encourage development and facilitate recovery, enabling people to stay in work while helping them remain independent.

Podiatry

Podiatry is treating foot and ankle illnesses. It is the medicine branch that deals with the foot and ankle almost solely. Podiatry involves treating minor diseases, such as ingested toenails, but may also include surgery to enhance chronic circumstances, such as bunions or foot pain.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a complementary therapy aimed at treating muscles that are harmed, knotted, tense or motionless. For a number of issues affecting the muscles, tendons and bones, it is helpful.
